Windows 9X:-
- If Plug & Unplug is attempted continuously, system may crash at IOS layers after 32 times. This problem is also observed on other PnP drivers like PCMCIA ATAPI drives.
- In OSR2, while USB device is in operation and network operation also initialed, some times USB stack malfunctions.
- Helper VxDs for Battery Scope applications (commonly found on Sony laptops) are found to give problem with USB Stack. Hence it is mandatory to disable those drivers for smooth USB access
Windows 2000:-
- In compactflash reader if media is removed while accessing media contents, the reinsertion of media is not regnosied properly. Use explorer to read the media and continue with previous operation.
Window 9X:-
- When device connected to CMD OHCI host controller (UH0673, Rev: 5), system hangs randomly. This exhibited in window 98 Gold and service pack 1, But not in Windows 98SE or Windows 2000.
- When device connected to NEC OHCI host controller (Rev 1) thruogh a HUB on a window 98SE system, on suspend/resume of system driver letter is removed from my computer and Device manager gives a yellow mark in USBAT Mass Storage Port Adapter entry. But the Device works normally when connected through roothub.
- With NEC Host contrller on Windows 98 Gold system, the device is not working normally.
- In Win95 OSR2.X, while writing multiple small files to USB device, if suspend attempted result is unpreditable.
- In Win95 OSR2.X, while reading from USB device, randomly suspend request fails.(Instead reporting active I/O, system goes in to suspend mode. resume opeartion is succesful)
- In Win95 OSR2.X, IoMega Tools vcrsion 4.1 raises pagefault, while viewing Disk properies of Iomega drive.This issue not observed in laster version 6.1of Iomega Tools(IomegaWare 1.1.3)
In Techmar tape drive, if any operation from backup software when drive is spining, lead to backup software hanging.
Windows 2000:-
- FORMAT of some media fails with error messages '"Windows unable to complete the format". This is seen in with MicroSoft® supplied USB Mass storage driver (Usbstor.sys - 5.0.2112.1) in Windows2000 Build 2128 and as well as PC-Card drivers.
- UnInstalling the driver through device manager causes a 'data invalid error' message to be displayed. This is seen in with MicroSoft® supplied USB Mass storage driver (Usbstor.sys - 5.0.2112.1) in Windows2000 Build 2128.
- if repeated attampt made to suspend the system, while accessing the drive, sometimes the driver letter removed from the system. On reinserting, it contiunes to work normally.
Please refer the following table for the switch options forced via the DWORD registry subkey viz "DriverFlags" under "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\USB\xxxx" where xxxx corresponds to the instance of the USB client driver. Be Sure before make changes.
